THE SUDDEN DEPARTURE OF FOUR STUDENTS LEADERS ALONG KANO-KATSINA ROAD: NANS CONDOLE WITH FAMILIES, NANS ZONE A, SA’ADATU RIMI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION AND GOVERNMENT OF KANO STATE.

I have regrettably received the preliminary report of the fatal auto crash along Kano-Katsina road that claimed the lives of four of our comrades, the students of Sa’Adatu Rimi College of Education. Unfortunately the Students Union President of the College also died in the auto crash on their way to Zonal assignment.

This is indeed a dark Thursday for NANS and students activism in Nigeria, I and the entire leadership of NANS therefore send our heartfelt condolences to the families of the departed student leaders, the Sa’Adatu Rimi College of Education, the government and the people of Kano State for this monumental loss.

It is therefore imperative that government at all levels must ensure that our roads are in good conditions and necessary precautions are installed on the roads to forestall future occurrences.

I am by this release, declaring that special prayers should be offered for the repose of the departed in all NANS events nationally for the next one week. I will also lead a delegation of the National Leadership to Kano State to condole with the Families, College and Government of Kano State.

While awaiting the comprehensive report on the incident, I therefore call on all our comrades across the nation to continue to pray for the repose of the departed and draw inspiration from their sacrifice to ensure that student’s rights are protected always.

This is a sad day for all of us and we pray that God grant their families the fortitude to bear this monumental loss.

Signed:

Asefon Sunday Dayo
The Revolutionary President of NANS
