Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has approved the constitution of a Board for the Ekiti State Sports Development Trust Fund.
Hon Michael Awopetu, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development disclosed this when receiving athletes that won medals at the just concluded National Youth Games held in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The commissioner who showered encomiums on both the athletes and their coaches said they deserved accolades for their perseverance and hard work which resulted in their achievements.
He charged youths in the state to emulate the athletes, stressing that it takes determination to succeed.
Reiterating the commitment of the Fayemi led administration to youth development, the commissioner assured that the state government would continue to support sports development in the state.
Awopetu, however, solicited the support of individuals and corporate organizations for the government’s efforts to develop sports in the state.
Ekiti State finished sixteenth at the end of the Youth Games Festival with 2 gold, 9 silver and 2 two bronze medals.
