Nigeria gets new University of Science

President Bola Tinubu has approved the creation of the Federal University of Science and Technology in Epe, Lagos State.

Courses to be offered include Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, and Civil Engineering, as well as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science.

The approval comes a few months after the Federal Executive Council, led by President Tinubu, introduced a seven-year moratorium on the creation of new federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

Despite the moratorium, the new institution was considered a special case due to its potential to boost technical education and innovation in Lagos State and beyond.
