Tinubu Rewards Super Falcons With Cash, Gifts

…As players bag additional N10m each from NGF

President Bola Tinubu has rewarded members of the Super Falcons with national honours, homes, and cash gifts following their impressive performance at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The players and technical crew were received at the Presidential Villa on Monday, where each of them was conferred with the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

In addition, they were each gifted a three-bedroom flat and a cash reward of $100,000, to be paid in Naira.

Tinubu said: “On behalf of the grateful nation, I hereby confer on the players and the 11-man technical team national honour of OON.

“I hereby allocate a three-bedroom apartment to each of the players and technical crew. In addition, there’s a cash award of the naira equivalence $100,000 to the 24 players and equivalence of $50,000 to the technical team. Once again, I congratulate you, and I will continue to pray for you.”

While addressing the team, President Tinubu said he deliberately avoided watching the WAFCON final because he did not want to develop high blood pressure due to the tension of the match.

He said: “Honestly, I didn’t want to watch the match. I don’t want high blood pressure, but our people came in and tuned my TV to that channel. When it was 2-0, I got very offended and restless, but I was there watching the resilience of the team.”

Super Falcons won the WAFCON trophy for the tenth time after their 3-2 comeback over the Atlas Lionesses Morocco on Saturday.

Governor Hope Nzodinma also announced the sum of N10million each to the super Falcons on behalf of the governor’s forum.
