OGBOMOSO, OYO STATE – Genesis Medical Diagnostics Centre conducted a comprehensive health education seminar for the Igbo Community in Ogbomoso on Saturday, May 31 2025, focusing on preventive healthcare awareness and early disease detection.
The educational program, titled “Catch It Early – Prevent Emergencies Through Routine Health Screenings,” drew significant participation as Igbo Community members gathered to learn about proactive health management strategies. The initiative underscored the critical importance of regular medical screenings in preventing chronic diseases from progressing to emergency situations.
Mr. Akanji Philip, Health Educator and Business Relationship Officer at Genesis Medical Diagnostics, led the seminar through an interactive presentation that highlighted the substantial benefits of routine health screenings. He emphasized how early disease detection translates to lower treatment costs and significantly improved quality of life for patients.
He also outlined the comprehensive diagnostic services available at Genesis Medical Diagnostics Centre. According to him, the facility provides essential blood tests, organ function assessments, along with specialized cancer screenings and tumor marker evaluations. Cardiovascular health services include ECG, Stress ECG, and Echocardiogram procedures to assess heart function and detect potential cardiac issues.
The center’s infectious disease screening capabilities encompass viral testing for HIV, Hepatitis A,B,C and more, as well as screening for tuberculosis and other bacterial infections. Additional services include hormonal profiles, thyroid function evaluations, liver and kidney monitoring, and diabetes management screening. The facility also offers ultrasound services for comprehensive internal organ and reproductive health examinations.
Philip stressed the urgency of preventive care, noting that many serious health conditions develop silently without obvious symptoms until they reach advanced stages.
Addressing questions about treatment services, Philip clarified that Genesis Medical Diagnostics operates exclusively as a diagnostic facility. While the center does not provide medical treatment, it maintains professional relationships with qualified physicians and ensures appropriate referrals for patients requiring further medical intervention.
Prince Olawuyi concluded the seminar by commending the Igbo Community leadership for their commitment to health advocacy and community wellness. In a gesture demonstrating the center’s dedication to community health, he announced that Genesis Medical Diagnostics will provide free Hepatitis B testing to all members of the Igbo Community members in Ogbomoso.
This complimentary screening initiative reflects the diagnostic center’s ongoing commitment to improving public health through accessible early detection programs and community-focused healthcare engagement. The announcement was met with appreciation from Igbo community members who expressed gratitude for both the educational opportunity and the center’s investment in their collective health and wellbeing.
