PSC fires Over 200 Top Police Officers, AIGs, Here’s Why

News Update

THE Police Service Commission (PSC) has reportedly sacked over 200 police officers, including several Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs), over allegations of forgery, corruption, and overstaying their official tenure.

This is part of efforts to address misconduct within the force.

According to sources, the dismissed officers were found guilty of various offences following internal investigations, with cases ranging from document forgery to abuse of office and prolonged service beyond the legally permitted timeframe.

This comes on the heels of reports exposing widespread age falsification within the police force.

This development also comes amid growing calls for the removal of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, who faces allegations of forging his age to extend his tenure.

Critics argued that the PSC’s actions should not stop at lower-ranking officers but must also address misconduct at the highest levels of the police hierarchy.
