2027: LP Debunks Claims of Collaboration with Tinubu

The Labour Party has firmly rejected fresh allegations of covert collaboration with President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress in support of his re-election for the 2027 general elections.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh, clarified the party’s position in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday.

Ifoh’s response came after a viral video surfaced, featuring human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju accusing the Labour Party leadership of collaborating with President Tinubu’s loyalists to facilitate his return to the State House in 2027.

The Labour Party spokesman dismissed the allegation, describing it as a fabrication and a product of Adeyanju’s imagination. He further challenged the activist to provide substantive evidence to support his claims.

According to Ifoh, both the Labour Party and its National Chairman, Julius Abure, remain the most vocal and visible opposition force in Nigerian politics since the 2023 elections.

“All what he said about the Labour Party is untrue, lies, and unfounded. It is on record that LP has, on several occasions, categorically refuted the allegations of any unholy understanding with the ruling party to collaborate ahead of the 2027 general elections,” Ifoh said.

He continued: “We are, therefore, challenging Deji Adeyanju and others making similar claims to present facts and evidence proving that the party leadership or Abure has worked, is working, or plans to work for President Bola Tinubu or the APC in 2027.

“Adeyanju’s assertion, which is currently trending globally, has caused the Labour Party enormous harm.

“We demand that he refrains from actions, whether intentional or otherwise, capable of ridiculing or undermining the party. He should also consider withdrawing his baseless claims and issuing an apology to the leadership and millions of Labour Party members for the significant harm his allegations have caused.”
