AFCON 2025: Nigeria Thrash Benin Republic 3-0

Voice Air Media, News Update

THE Super Eagles of Nigeria secured a convincing 3-0 victory over the Cheetahs of Benin Republic in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifier match, held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Saturday.

Ademola Lookman opened the scoring in the first half, breaking the deadlock and giving Nigeria an early lead.

Victor Osimhen followed up with a stunning goal, extending the Super Eagles’ dominance in the match.

Lookman, who was recently nominated for the prestigious FIFA Ballon d’Or award, sealed Nigeria’s victory with his second goal of the match, marking an impressive performance.

The forward had previously been one of Nigeria’s standout players at AFCON 2023, where his contributions helped the team secure a runners-up finish.

Osimhen, who recently completed a loan move to Galatasaray following a failed transfer on deadline day, rejoined his teammates just two days before the match and wasted no time making an impact on the pitch.

The win places Nigeria in a strong position as they continue their campaign to qualify for the 2025 AFCON tournament.
