Osun CSDA: Igbotele Residents Rejoice As Community Gets Clean Water, Modern Toilet

…Hails Adeleke’s Govt

THE residents of Igbotele in Odo-otin Local Government of Osun State, have expressed joy over the borehole water and provision of toilet by the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), after 100 years of settlement.

Speaking with journalists during the visit of the agency to the community, on Thursday, the community chairman, Yusuf Oladele, explained how the communities around the place usually share a stream water with cows for almost a century.

Oladele explained how they risk their lives to enter the bush for defecation anytime they are pressed, saying that open defecation became a thing of the past when the agency presented the toilet to the community.

He said, “We usually fetch stream water which we share with cows before the intervention of the government that gave us borehole. Also, we usually go to the bush, even in the mid of the night to defecate before the toilet was built for us.

“We have lived here for more than 100 years. Our road is in dilapidated state and it is difficult to take our farm produce to the market. We have been neglected here.

“We have a government primary school but our children in secondary school have to trek to Oyan for than one hour in the morning abd after the school hour.

Also, the Imam of Igbotele community, Yusuf Muritadho, appreciated the government of Ademola Adeleke for the intervention on water and the toilet.

He said, “We appreciate the government of Osun state for the support. The borehole is serving us better. The toilet has made lives easier for us. We still have problem of roads. Taking our produce to the market is not easy,” Muritadho added.

In her response, the General Manager of CSDA, Mrs Funmi Abokede, explained that the agency has received the demand of the community and efforts are on to attend to their demand including a modern bathroom.
