…Affirms President Tinubu’s Commitment to Developing Young Leaders

The training program for student leaders focused on conflict resolution and government policies, aiming to cultivate responsible young leaders for national development, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, Asefon Sunday has affirmed that President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to cultivating young leaders for future political roles. Speaking in Makurdi on Tuesday during a three-day capacity building and leadership development training for selected student union leaders from Nigeria’s tertiary institutions, Sunday emphasized the President’s belief in empowering the youth.

The training, themed “Building Responsible Young Leaders for National Development,” drew participants from the North Central region and focused on conflict resolution management and educating student leaders on government policies and programs.

Asefon urged Nigerian youths to be patient with the current administration, assuring them that President Tinubu is genuinely committed to their welfare. He encouraged young people not to be swayed by those he described as “enemies of the state,” who might seek to exploit them for political gains.

He stated, “I call on youths to be patient with the government of President Tinubu because the president means well for them. They should not allow enemies of the state to use them because there are a lot of people whose policies and programs of this government do not align with theirs.”

Asefon also claimed that the current administration has invested more in education than previous administrations, including those led by former presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari.

In addition, Solomon Alabi, the consultant for the training program, highlighted that the initiative aimed to equip student leaders with skills to address issues in their institutions through dialogue rather than protests.
