VOICE AIR MEDIA, News Update

A National Youth Service Corps member, Medaiyese Emmanuel, was found dead in his apartment in the Sogbesan Street, Oluwo area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, in a tragic incident that occurred last Wednesday.

This newspaper was informed that the deceased’s mother was unable to reach Emmanuel on his mobile phone, leading to concerns about his well-being.

After several failed attempts to contact him, the mother sought help from one of the corps member’s friends, Olumide, to check on Emmanuel at his apartment in Sogbesan.

According to an eyewitness named Toyo, upon receiving the information, Olumide went to the corps member’s apartment and found the room locked from the inside.

It was further learned that after unsuccessful attempts to open the door, Olumide and other neighbors forced it open and discovered Emmanuel’s lifeless body on the floor of the apartment.

Reaction

The Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident but stated that there was no evidence of suicide or murder, as no signs of violence were found on the deceased’s body when examined by officials. The body has been deposited at the state hospital for autopsy,” the spokesperson said.

Similarly, in November 2023, a 200-level female student of the University of Port Harcourt, identified as Adaeze, was found dead in her apartment in Aluu, a community in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
