NAWOJ To Women: Go for regular health checks

Women journalists under the auspices of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Ondo State chapter have called for regular medical checkups for women in order to have healthy lives.

 

 

 

The group also advised women to create time for themselves to relax after daily hustling and bustling and also to avoid unnecessary physical, emotional and psychological stress which could raise their blood pressure.

 

 

 

The Acting Chairperson of the association, Comrade Tola Gbadamosi, gave the advice during the association’s programme, tagged ‘Women Health’ held in Akure, Ondo.

 

 

 

She said, “Women should create time to cater for their health and particularly when they are ageing so as to have enough strength to meet the challenges ahead of them and sustain their homes.”

 

 

 

 

In her remarks, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr Adebummi Osadahun, charged women to take their health a matter of priority and should always remember their place in society because the slogan of ‘no woman no nation’ has been changed to ‘no woman, no generation’.

 

 

 

Osadahun said, ” Ageing in women is not a disease but a natural phenomenon which is bound to happen to every woman but they should also avoid over-thinking to avoid an increase in their blood pressure.”

 

 

 

 

She advised NAWOJ to always invite men to participate in such programmes so that they (men) would also be sensitized and to understand why their wives be given special consideration and allow them to have proper rest they deserved than adding more to their challenges for their marital rights.

 

 

 

 

Speaking, the state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Prince Leke Adegbite urged the women not to take the issue of their health for granted but to also create time and always check themselves up medically on a regular basis. CONTINUE READING………………………………
