At least, 25 cars were destroyed as youths from Ita-merin and Ode-Popo communities lay claim to the boyfriend of one Aisha, a JSS student.

According to a report by Sobifm, the clash started following a disagreement between leaders of the two youth groups over who is the boyfriend of the girl.

According to a community leader in Ode Popo, Alhaji AbdulRazaq, “They started the incident around 1:30 am on Saturday because of a girl, Aisha, a JSS 2 student of about 18 years.

“They started mobilizing themselves for the clash on Friday and left over 25 vehicles destroyed in the process on Saturday,” adding, “We called on the police to wade in before the issue got out of hand.

Omotayo, who is also a resident of the area where the clash incident occurred, said the Police arrested the girl, Aisha, on Sunday morning, adding that the leaders of the two groups, one Ismail and his rival, fled the communities after the incident.

Report has it that Police from the G Division, Oloje, have raided the area and some suspects have been arrested.

The DPO of Oloje, Dare Afonja, who confirmed the incident, said he “was not in a position to provide further detail.”
