NANS Declares “No Education, No Movement” Until ASUU Strike Ends

…Orders Airport, Highways Closure

Comrade Amtai Ali Saidu and Mallam Ibrahim, the Chairman of NANS Stakeholders for Gombe state, and the Assistant Secretary General of NANS Zone E have expressed the grief of the Nigerian students over the ASUU strike.

They, however, called for the closure of the international airports and major roads until the strike is formally called off.

Voice Air Media recalls that it has been a seven-month stand-off between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU).

According to the conference statement released on Wednesday, 21st of September, 2022 by The National Association of Nigerian Students’ zonal leadership, “We will, by this statement, not beg again. As we were directed by the national president of NANS Comr. Umar Usman Barambu to mobilize all students to shut down the country. No Education! No Movement!”

They went on to commend the Governor of Gombe State Alh Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for the active payment of salaries and his contribution to education in the state, irrespective of the ongoing ASUU strike.

“We want to use this medium to appreciate the Executive Governor of Gombe State Alh Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Dan Majen Gombe) for his tremendous contributions to the development of Education in Gombe State and also despite the long seven months Strike he has been paying the salary of Gombe State University workers.

He is indeed a leader. We Also appreciate the effort of the Gombe Department of State security service (DSS) for the organization effort for always standing with Nigerian students.”

Highway closures were made possible by a movement to achieve calling off of the strike last week. A fresh decision to cease operations at the international airport has come about, and this is expected to yield a favorable outcome according to The National Association of Nigerian Students (Northeast).

“The four-day closure of highways and expressways was a success, which is why we decided to stop international travel beginning on Monday September 19, 2022, so that the bourgeois and the government would experience the suffering that students had gone through for the previous seven months.”

“The airports would be occupied and remain closed until the strike is called off. We want to let the world know about the pains and anguish students are going through.”

“Nigerian students whose parents create the commonwealth cannot continue to be suffering at home while the few who gain from our sweats and blood have their kids abroad jollying and flexing.”

“No Education! No Movement!”
