OOPA: We Remain Foremost Platform for Responsible Digital Journalism in Osun

THE Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) has reaffirmed its position as the foremost platform for responsible digital journalism in Osun State, pledging to continue upholding the highest standards of professionalism, ethical reporting, and media excellence.

In a statement jointly signed by the leadership of the association at its Secretariat in Ajegunle, Osogbo, the Chairman, Comrade Abioye Tosin Lawrence, noted that for nearly a decade, OOPA has remained at the forefront of digital media development in the state through capacity-building programmes, professional workshops, media advocacy, and the promotion of credible journalism.

According to the statement, OOPA has distinguished itself as a dependable body of professional publishers and journalists committed to delivering accurate, balanced, and authentic news while consistently standing against misinformation, disinformation, and fake news.

The association described OOPA as more than just a professional body, stressing that it is a platform where experienced journalists, publishers, media entrepreneurs, and digital communication experts have continued to make meaningful contributions to the growth of online journalism in Osun State and beyond.

“Professionalism thrives on mutual respect, collaboration, and adherence to ethical standards. Over the years, OOPA has become a household name in the media landscape because of the vision, commitment, and foresight of its founding fathers, who recognized early the inevitable shift of journalism towards a digital ecosystem,” the statement read.

The association further stated that the emergence and growth of digital media platforms across the state validate the vision upon which OOPA was founded, adding that the organization remains committed to leading innovation and promoting best practices in the ever-evolving media industry.

OOPA emphasized that it would continue to uphold its core values, maintain its integrity, and pursue its mission without disparaging other reputable media organizations or professional bodies.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to positioning Osun’s digital media industry among the most respected in Nigeria, Africa, and the global media community through professionalism, responsible journalism, and continuous capacity development.

“While we welcome every initiative aimed at advancing journalism and strengthening the media profession, OOPA shall remain steadfast in its commitment to ethical reporting, press freedom, professional development, and the advancement of digital journalism for the benefit of society,” the statement added.
