THE duo of the President and General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau and Dr Mohammed Sanusi, respectively, have finally resigned their positions with the football house.
Confirming the development, the immediate past chief scribe of the federation, Dr Sanusi, told Daily Sunspots that the resignation was true, quipping; “Yes, the news about the resignation of the president and myself is true.”
Interestingly, Gusau, while fielding questions from the media during the unveiling of the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) on Wednesday, claimed that he was not under any form of pressure over the incident.
The resignation of the eggheads of the federation comes after intense pressure was mounted on them and barely a few weeks to the NFF’s elective congress, scheduled for September 27 in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
History has been made as the resignation of the NFF leadership becomes the first of its kind in the history of the administration of the round leather game in the country.
The federation bosses have been in a running battle with the Shehu Dikko-led National Sports Commission (NSC) over sundry issues, resulting in the latter starving the former of funds to prosecute administrative, national and international tournaments.
