Kano State Ministry of Education, on Monday, extended the resumption dates for all public and private primary and secondary schools in the state by one week.
The State Commissioner of Education, Muhammad Sanusi, said the one-week extension is ostensibly to normalise the state academic calendar, following series of disruptions due to the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A statement issued by the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Yusuf, on Monday said, “All students of boarding schools are to resume on Sunday, September 12, 2021 as against September 5, while the day-school students are to resume on Monday, September 13, 2021, instead of September 6 as earlier announced.”
“The Commissioner, however, expressed appreciation to parents guardians for their support to the Ministry, hoping that the goodwill will be sustained
“He therefore urged them to ensure that their wards resumed school at the stipulated dates.”
