There is an anxiety in parts of Osun state as residents stay indoor, shops, businesses and markets are closed in osogbo, the State Capital with few vehicles plying the road.
Our correspondent who went round Osogbo metropolis observed that major street were deserted with shops and markets not opening for business even as Nigeria commemorates democracy day today June 12, 2021.
Combined Security operatives are also patrolling different streets to ensure there is no break down of law and order.
VAM News confirmed that at the popular Oke-fia roundabouts in the state capital, Youths under the aegis of Coalition of Civil Society of Osun State converged for democracy day, June 12 rally.
According to the protesters, they want the Nigerian government to address Insecurity and ensure good governance.
As at press time, the environment is calm and the youths are heading towards the event center to attend the 2021 democracy day programme organized by the state government, which the governor, Gboyega Oyetola is expected to attend and address the day.
VAM News further gathered that the Residents are staying at home today even without a sit-at-home order from government or security agencies.
The people are taking such decision based on information that some groups of people would be storming the street to stage a protest against all forms of violence in the country and that the protest could be hijacked by hoodlums thereby causing mayhem in town.
Though, heavily-armed forces are patrolling major streets in the town apparently to ward off any criminal activity.
