Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has approved a ₦10,000 salary support for workers in the state to help cushion the impact of rising fuel prices.
The governor made the announcement on Monday at an event held in Ibadan, noting that the payment would begin in April and run for an initial period of three months.
Makinde said, “I’m happy to announce that all workers in Oyo State and the local government starting from April, at least for the first three months, will be given ₦10,000 in addition to their monthly salary as petrol/transportation support.”
He explained that the support would be given at a flat rate to all workers and may be extended if fuel-related challenges persist.
“All workers, everybody. It is a flat rate. Maybe it would be extended,” he added.

The governor further stated that the state government was exploring ways to extend the benefit to residents outside the state workforce.
“Those who are not working with the Oyo State government may also benefit from it. We will handle it properly to ensure it is all-inclusive,” Makinde said.
He added that the initiative forms part of his administration’s efforts to maintain continuity and provide relief to residents amid current economic pressures.
