The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering and supporting its female officers as part of activities to mark International Women’s Day 2026.
The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Ola Olukoyede, gave the assurance on Wednesday at a seminar held at the EFCC Headquarters.
In a statement posted on its X handle on Wednesday, he stated that “the commission remains committed to encouraging female officers and ensuring that their welfare needs are adequately addressed to enable them to effectively discharge their duties.
“EFCC prioritizes the health, safety, and well-being of all its personnel, special attention is given to female officers to ensure they are emotionally and physically stable to carry out their responsibilities.”
According to him, the commission has introduced several initiatives aimed at improving the work-life balance and dignity of female staff. These include the establishment of a crèche in EFCC offices to ease the burden of infant care for nursing mothers.
“This consideration led to the establishment of a crèche in our offices to reduce the stress of infant care for our nursing mothers. The need to enhance the dignity of our female staff was key to developing policies aimed at protecting them from any form of abuse or harassment,” he said.
He also disclosed that the commission has activated its Sexual Harassment and Bullying Policy and is determined to enforce it strictly to ensure a safe and respectful work environment.
While commending the dedication and resilience of female officers in the Commission, Olukoyede assured them that management would continue to prioritize their welfare and create a supportive work environment.
“We will not relent in making the work environment more conducive and supportive for everyone. I also encourage our female staff to continue upholding the value and standards that define the commission. I want to charge every one of you to seek better ways of adding value to the commission through diligence, enhanced productivity, punctuality, self-development, and loyalty to the mandate of the EFCC,” he said.
In her remarks, Acting Director of the EFCC’s Staff Welfare Services, Felicia Timothy, praised women for their vital roles as mothers, caregivers, innovators, and decision-makers. She emphasized that each woman has a unique story that contributes to the broader narrative of resilience and strength.
Timothy also expressed appreciation to Olukoyede for appointing more women to leadership positions within the Commission, noting that the move has further empowered female officers.
“We thank the Chairman who has given women leadership positions beyond their expectations, and this gives women the chance to step into other roles. As we embark on this journey, let us not forget the importance of unity, community support and shared experiences that inspire us to prioritize our health, foster resilience, and empower ourselves. Remember, empowering a woman means empowering the nation,” she said.
The seminar featured three lectures delivered by experts on issues relating to women’s health, work-life balance, and workplace support. A medical psychiatrist, Motunrayo Oyelohuno, presented a paper titled “Prioritizing Female Staff Health while Serving the Nation.”
A clinical psychologist, Toyin Ogunkanmi, spoke on “Creating Balance in a High-Pressure World,” while Nana Khadijah Iya delivered a lecture titled “Building a Culture of Support and Excellence at the Workplace.”

The event formed part of the EFCC’s efforts to promote gender inclusion, well-being and professional development among its female officers.
