The Bureau of the FIFA Council on Thursday approved the appointment of a Normalisation Committee to take charge of the affairs of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) pending fresh elections into its Executive Committee.
This was contained in a letter signed by FIFA Secretary General, Mattias Grafström, and addressed to Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme MON.
According to the letter, “the normalisation committee shall consist of a suitable number of members, who will be appointed jointly by FIFA and CAF as soon as possible.”
FIFA stated that the committee will perform its functions until it completes its tasks, but not later than May 31, 2027.
The world football governing body also clarified that none of the members of the normalisation committee shall be eligible to contest for any position in the forthcoming NFF elections under any circumstances.
In the interim, the NFF Secretariat will continue to handle the day-to-day running and administration of football in the country pending the appointment of the Normalisation Committee.
The Bureau also approved N33.2 billion for football development in Nigeria.
