Osun Governorship 2026: Education, Roads, Bus Terminal, Electricity, Security Top Voters’ Priorities

NEWS UPDATE

As Osun State counts down to the Saturday, August 15th governorship election, voters across the state have identified Quality Education, Good Roads, Electricity, a Big Bus Terminal, and Security as the top 5 priorities they want the next governor to address immediately after taking office.

In a street poll and online engagement conducted by Voice Air Media ahead of the polls, voters from Osogbo, Ile-Ife, Ilesa, Ede, Esa-Oke and Ikirun were asked: “What should the next Governor of Osun fix first?”

Here are the top 5 responses:

1. Quality Education – Many respondents cited dilapidated classrooms, poor teacher welfare, and lack of learning materials as urgent issues. “Our children deserve better schools. Education is the future of Osun,” said a Vulcnaizer in Osogbo.

2. Good Roads – Voters across LGAs complained about potholes and abandoned road projects linking rural communities to markets. “We cannot move farm produce. Fix our roads first,” a Commercial driver(Korope) stated.

3. Construction of a Big Bus Terminal – Residents in Osogbo called for a modern inter-state bus terminal to reduce traffic, create jobs, and boost commerce in the state capital.

4. Electricity – Small business owners said epileptic power supply is killing businesses. “We spend all our profit on fuel. Stable light will help us grow,” a welder in Ile-Ife noted.

5. Security – Concerns over kidnapping, cultism, and night patrols ranked high, especially among market women and students. “Government must tackle cultism and thuggery,” said a student in Esa-Oke.

Political analysts say the responses reflect the immediate socio-economic concerns of Osun people, and will likely shape campaign promises in the final days before the election.

INEC has fixed the governorship election for August 15, 2026. Campaigns are expected to intensify as parties respond to these voter demands.
