THE Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 11 Headquarters, Osogbo, AIG Bassey S. Ewah, has warned motorists in Osun and Oyo States against the unlawful use of sirens, revolving lights and covered number plates.
In a press release signed on Wednesday, 29th October, 2026 by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ojedele Olanrewaju Tunji, the AIG said such acts undermine public safety and facilitate criminal activities.
He listed the violations to include:
Unlawful use of sirens and revolving lights
Use of covered or concealed number plates
Unauthorized use of tinted vehicle windows
Use of unregistered vehicles.
According to him, these practices impede effective law enforcement and violate existing laws governing vehicle registration and use.
AIG Ewah emphasized that anyone found violating the laws would be dealt with in accordance with the law, irrespective of their status or position in society.
He therefore called on motorists and members of the public across the two states to comply with relevant regulations and cooperate with the Police to promote public safety, maintain law and order, and prevent crime.
The Police reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and enforcing the law without fear or favour.
