THE Osun State Civil Society Campaign Committee and members of the Osun Diaspora community have endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term, while condemning the recent wave of political violence and killings across the state.
The endorsement was conveyed in a statement issued on Saturday by Owolabi Adedolapo, President of the Parapo of Osun Bonafide Indigene Community Association (also known as Imole Osun Parapo Community Malaysia) and a member of the Osun State Civil Society Campaign Committee.
The group expressed deep concern over what it described as the alarming rise in politically motivated violence, claiming that more than 10 people were killed across different parts of Osun State in June 2026, with several others sustaining gunshot injuries.
Among those remembered by the group were Ezekiel Olapade of Irepodun Local Government, Ajayi Aderogba (popularly known as Rogba) of Obokun Local Government, and Kolade Eluyera of Irewole Local Government.
Describing the killings as unacceptable, the group lamented that young people were becoming victims of violence allegedly aimed at intimidating the electorate.
“No political ambition is worth the blood of a single citizen. You cannot kill the very people you seek to govern,” the statement read.
The diaspora group urged the Osun State chapter of the APC to shun violence and avoid actions capable of throwing the state into crisis. It maintained that Governor Adeleke deserves another term in office, citing what it described as his administration’s developmental strides and ongoing people-oriented projects.
The statement also called on the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to discharge their constitutional responsibilities without fear or favour by ensuring the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the killings, as well as anyone found to have sponsored the attacks.
The group concluded by urging all political stakeholders to caution their supporters and embrace peaceful democratic engagement ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
