The Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, High Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, has firmly refuted allegations made by the Forum of APC Former Legislators claiming that he received a Toyota Hilux vehicle from Dr. Deji Adeleke, elder brother of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Describing the allegation as false, baseless, misleading and politically motivated, Dr. Omoyele stated that the claim exists only to distract the Corps from its constitutional responsibility of safeguarding the lives and property of the people of Osun State.
The Corps Commander reiterated that since its establishment, the Osun Amotekun Corps has remained strictly apolitical, professional and impartial, discharging its duties without fear, favour or political affiliation.
Reacting to the allegations, Dr. Omoyele noted that despite the recent distribution of security patrol vehicles by APC local government chairmen to several security agencies in the state, the Osun Amotekun Corps—which operates closest to the grassroots and was established during the APC administration—was conspicuously excluded.
He questioned why the Corps continues to be the target of repeated political attacks, urging members of the public to ask why Amotekun is constantly dragged into partisan debates despite maintaining neutrality.
According to him, “The Osun Amotekun Corps belongs to the people of Osun State, not to any political party. Our loyalty is to the law, and the safety and security of our citizens.”
Dr. Omoyele also referenced a Yoruba proverb to emphasize his position ” ,”Tí a ò bá lè fún afọ́jú ní ọ̀pá titun, kò yẹ kí á tún gba tọwọ́ rẹ̀.” If you can’t give a blind man a new walking stick, don’t take away the one in his hand,
stressing that unfounded accusations should not replace facts and responsible public discourse.
He further maintained that there is nothing wrong with ensuring that the Corps Commander has an official vehicle to effectively supervise security operations across the state, asking rhetorically whether those making the allegations expect the Commander to carry out his duties without adequate mobility.
The Corps Commander called on political actors to refrain from dragging security institutions into partisan contests, emphasizing that such actions could undermine public confidence in agencies established to protect all citizens regardless of political affiliation.
Dr. Omoyele reassured the people of Osun State that the Osun Amotekun Corps remains resolute, focused and unwavering in its commitment to maintaining peace, protecting lives and property, and supporting all lawful efforts to strengthen security across the state.
