Former SUBEB Boss, IBK Denies EFCC Investigation, Says Allegations Are False

News Update

Hon. Fadipe Ibukun Ishola, popularly known as IBK and former Executive Chairman of the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has denied claims that he is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged financial mismanagement during his tenure.

In a statement issued on Friday, IBK described the publication as “malicious and politically motivated,” saying it was a fabrication aimed at damaging his reputation ahead of the Osun East Senatorial race.

“I wish to categorically, clearly and unequivocally state that at no time have I been served any invitation letter, queried, interrogated or investigated by the EFCC, ICPC or any anti-corruption agency over allegations of fraud, misappropriation or mismanagement of public funds,” the statement read.

He said the report in circulation was “entirely false, baseless, misleading and a desperate fabrication by political detractors” seeking to smear his name and distract voters in Osun East from substantive issues.

IBK stated that he resigned from SUBEB “honourably and voluntarily” to pursue his senatorial ambition. He added that throughout his time as SUBEB chairman, he ensured transparency and followed due process in all projects and financial commitments.

“This is not my first time in public office,” he said, noting that he served as Executive Chairman of Ilesa West Local Government in 2008 under former Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola. He claimed to have left “developmental strides and a legacy of responsible leadership” in that role.

The former SUBEB boss urged members of the public, Accord Party supporters, and the people of Osun East to disregard what he called “concocted lies” spread by “agents of political bitterness and insecurity.”

“No amount of blackmail, propaganda or sponsored falsehood can erase years of proven service, integrity and grassroots connection with the people,” he said.

IBK said he remains committed to issue-based politics and the development of Osun East, and called on fellow aspirants and party stakeholders to work together for the party’s growth.

“Truth does not fear propaganda. Character cannot be destroyed by lies,” he concluded.
