Ronaldo’s Al Nassr win League title in seven years

Cristiano Ronaldo lifted his first major trophy with Al Nassr after scoring twice in a commanding 4-1 victory over Damac on the final day of the season to seal the Saudi Pro League title.

The Portuguese superstar delivered when it mattered most, netting Al Nassr’s final two goals as the Riyadh club clinched their first league crown since 2019 and ended a seven-year wait for domestic glory.

Ronaldo’s brace capped a dramatic title race that had gone down to the final day after Al Nassr conceded a heartbreaking stoppage-time equaliser against Al Hilal a week ago.

Sadio Mané and Kingsley Coman had earlier given Al Nassr a comfortable advantage before Morlaye Sylla briefly reduced the deficit for Damac.

Ronaldo then took control, scoring from a tight-angle free-kick before adding another close-range finish to spark emotional celebrations among Al Nassr supporters.

For Ronaldo, the triumph represents a major milestone since arriving in Saudi Arabia in January 2023 amid global attention surrounding his move from European football.

The 41-year-old had faced criticism after several near misses in domestic and continental competitions, including last weekend’s painful AFC Champions League Two final defeat to Gamba Osaka.

However, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner responded in trademark fashion by leading Al Nassr to the biggest prize in Saudi football.

Ronaldo has now scored 127 goals for Al Nassr across all competitions and continued his remarkable march toward the 1,000-career-goal milestone with goals number 972 and 973 against Damac.

The title-winning campaign also saw Ronaldo score his 100th Saudi Pro League goal earlier this month, further underlining his impact in the Middle East.
