Trump: Frustrated with UK Prime minister

U.S. President Donald Trump has criticised Britain’s response to the Iran war, expressing dissatisfaction with the position of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Trump said he was unhappy and surprised by the United Kingdom’s stance, noting that the country should be more actively involved in supporting American efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The development comes amid tensions in the region, as Tehran’s blockade of the strategic waterway has disrupted the flow of oil and gas from the Middle East, leading to rising global energy prices.

The U.S. president suggested that countries participating in efforts to secure the shipping route would face minimal resistance from Iran.

He also revealed details of a recent conversation with Starmer, stating that he questioned the UK leader’s decision-making process regarding the deployment of warships.

According to Trump, he expressed concern that the British Prime Minister needed to consult with advisers before deciding whether to send naval support to the region.

Trump said he found it unnecessary for the UK leader to delay such a decision, stressing that as Prime Minister, Starmer had the authority to act without extended consultations.

He further noted that the United States had maintained strong support for its allies, including commitments within NATO and ongoing involvement in the Ukraine situation.

The U.S. president argued that despite such support, the UK appeared reluctant to reciprocate by contributing naval resources to the situation in the Gulf.

His remarks followed comments by Starmer, who had earlier stated that the UK would not be drawn into a wider conflict in the Middle East.

Speaking from Downing Street, the British Prime Minister emphasised the need to bring the war to an end as quickly as possible and declined calls to deploy warships to the region.

Trump reiterated his disappointment with the UK’s position, maintaining that he had expected stronger cooperation from one of America’s closest allies.

He added that developments in the region could have significant implications for global oil prices, expressing confidence that prices would decline rapidly under certain conditions.
