A woman has raised concern over what she described as a new tactic allegedly being used by kidnappers to lure unsuspecting victims at bus stops and road junctions.
In a video shared on TikTok, the woman warned members of the public to be cautious when interacting with strangers who approach them with safety advice while they wait for vehicles.
According to her account, the suspected tactic begins when a stranger walks up to someone standing at a bus stop or roadside and starts warning them about the dangers of entering certain vehicles.
The individual may claim that someone they know was recently kidnapped at the same location and advise the person to be careful about the kind of vehicles they board, particularly those occupied only by men.
The woman explained that the warning could make the stranger appear concerned and trustworthy, leading the unsuspecting person to believe the individual is simply looking out for their safety.
She further alleged that after giving the warning, the same person may walk toward a parked vehicle or one that has just stopped nearby and enter it. The individual may then signal the person they had just warned to join them in the vehicle.
Because the stranger had earlier appeared helpful and concerned, the victim might feel safe enough to accept the invitation and enter the vehicle.
The woman cautioned the public not to fall for such tactics and urged people to remain vigilant when interacting with strangers at bus stops, junctions, or other public places.
She also encouraged individuals to be prayerful and mindful of their surroundings, noting that the world has become increasingly dangerous.
