A man has shared a disturbing account online claiming he witnessed a kidnapping happen in real time in Kubwa, raising fresh concerns about insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory.
In a video circulating on social media, the witness said armed kidnappers stormed a neighborhood in Kubwa and abducted several people while residents looked on in shock. According to him, the incident was not an isolated one, as kidnappers had reportedly attacked the same area on previous days.
“I used to hear about kidnappings in different places, but I never believed something like this could happen in Abuja,” the man said, expressing disbelief that such an incident could occur in the nation’s capital.
The witness also criticized the response of security agencies, claiming officers from the Nigeria Police Force arrived only after the attackers had fled the scene.
“After they don go, police will come and blow siren. Three police officers—how will they face kidnappers with AK-47?” he said in frustration.
The incident reportedly happened in Kubwa, a densely populated suburb of Abuja, where residents say repeated attacks have created panic within the community.
At the time of reporting, authorities have not officially confirmed the claims. However, the account has intensified discussions about rising kidnapping cases across Nigeria and the need for stronger security measures.
