From Mockery To N14m: How Viral Post Raised Millions For ‘Peanut Seller’ Graduate

What started as online mockery has turned into a N14m lifeline for Madumere Felix Nwachikerendu, a graduate of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State.

 

Felix, popularly known on X as @Felix_the_SUG and nicknamed “the Peanut Seller”, went viral on August 31, 2026 after photos of him at his final-year project defense were posted with ridicule over his appearance and delayed graduation.

 

The narrative changed after X user Mercy Ninian revealed Felix’s struggles. She said he hawked peanuts, fetched water, washed other students’ clothes and sometimes slept in classrooms to survive while studying History at AE-FUNAI.

 

According to her, Felix was initially withdrawn from the university for inability to pay fees and low CGPA. He rewrote JAMB and returned to complete his degree.

 

Felix later confirmed the story, saying: “You can laugh at the picture, but you don’t know the story behind it. I didn’t graduate with my set in 2023 not because I was lazy, but I chose not to give up.”

 

The turning point came when influencer Wisdom Obi-Dickson, aka Sir Dickson Wizarab, called for public support and donated N100,000. He shared Felix’s account details and urged Nigerians to “raise am.”

 

Donations poured in rapidly. Within hours the fund hit N4m, then N10m, and by Thursday had reached N14m.

 

“I just want to thank everyone for your kindnesses and the trust. What began as a mockery turned out to be a miracle,” Wizarab wrote.

 

He added that @Skolex5 would help Felix with financial investment advice to secure the funds.

 

Reacting, Felix thanked supporters and promised to make a formal appreciation video. He also debunked reports that he was attacked, urging people not to use his story to chase clout.

 

Felix said he dedicated his sign-out poster to his late mother, to whom he promised never to fail, engage in illegal activities, or bring disgrace.

 

“Now you reading this post, just be clean and never go against God’s wish. Be good to people. If you don’t see the result now, you will surely see the result later,” he said.

 

The campaign has transformed Felix’s story from ridicule over poverty into one of resilience, faith and public goodwill.
