A victim of alleged sexual harassment has spoken out publicly, claiming the incident occurred within an institution of learning connected to one of the world’s most influential religious organizations.
In a statement shared online, the individual recounted that the harassment did not happen in places commonly associated with such incidents, such as nightclubs or marketplaces, but rather in an environment expected to uphold moral and ethical standards.
“I was sexually harassed. Not in a nightclub. Not in a marketplace. But within an institution of learning and inside one of the most powerful religious bodies in the world,” the victim stated.
The individual expressed disappointment over the backlash that followed after speaking up about the incident, suggesting that the real issue should not be their decision to speak out but the alleged wrongdoing itself.
“The real outrage is that I spoke up. The problem is not my voice. The problem is what my voice exposed,” the statement continued.
Despite the experience, the victim said she has chosen to forgive but will not ignore what happened. She also expressed hope that justice would eventually prevail.
“I forgive. But I will never pretend it did not happen. Posterity will judge. I deserve justice and it shall come at the right time,” the victim added.
The disclosure has sparked conversations online about accountability, sexual harassment, and the challenges victims often face when reporting misconduct within powerful institutions.
Advocates say cases like this highlight the importance of creating safe environments in educational and religious institutions, as well as ensuring that victims are protected and heard when they come forward.
