Sean sacked as Nottingham Forest manager

News Update

Nottingham Forest have parted ways with Sean Dyche, just months after his appointment as head coach, the club confirmed on Thursday.

In an official statement released by the club: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach. We thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club and wish them the best of luck for the future. We will make no further comment at this time.”

Dyche was appointed in October 2025 on a contract set to run until the summer of 2027, following a recruitment process led by Global Head of Football Edu Gaspar and Global Technical Director George Syrianos. His dismissal marks the second managerial change at Forest during the 2025/26 season.

Earlier in the campaign, Nottingham Forest had parted ways with Ange Postecoglou after a winless run of eight matches. Postecoglou, who was appointed in September 2025, brought over 25 years of managerial experience, including league titles with Brisbane Roar and Yokohama F. Marinos, as well as domestic success with Celtic, where he won a double and a treble in consecutive seasons.

Dyche struggled to find consistent form during his brief tenure. He remained winless in his last three games, including a 0-0 draw at home against Wolves on Wednesday. In the six Premier League matches he oversaw in 2026, Forest recorded two wins, two losses, and three draws.

The club currently sits 17th in the Premier League with 27 points, just three points above the relegation zone. West Ham occupies 18th with 24 points, Burnley is 19th with 18 points, and Wolves remain bottom with 9 points.
