A Non Governmental Organisation, Maten Oba Cares, distributed food items and cash gifts to over 100 widows in Idanre, on Friday February 6th as part of its 2026 Widow Outreach, aimed to ease the widows’ burden during this season.
Speaking during the distribution of items to the beneficiaries in Ojota, Opa, Idanre, the Founder of Maten Oba Cares, Adefisoye Moshood OBA, explained that the initiative was motivated by compassion and a commitment to support widows to celebrate this period with joy and dignity.
“Our goal is to put smiles on the faces of widows and reassure them that God has not forgotten them.”
“This vision is borne out of the word of God as contained in the Bible (1 Timothy 5 vs 3 – ‘Honour Widows that are widows indeed’).” We are gathered here today to obey this word of God and within our limited resources, decided to honour the widows.
Oba said, ” We’ll continue to give back to the society. We pray that all your labour over your children after death of your husbands won’t be in vain.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Akinrinmade Olufunbi, expressed gratitude for the timely support, describing the distribution of food items and cash gifts as a welcome relief to them.
Olufunbi stated that the assistance would go a long way in enabling all beneficiaries to enjoy with dignity, joy, and a renewed sense of hope.
She states that gestures like this will not only address immediate needs of the widows but also restore their sense of worth and belonging within the community.
She said the initiative reinforced the message that widows are not forgotten and that acts of compassion can transform lives according to the word of God.

Also, Mrs Funmilayo Ademoye, Mrs Ajike Ijimakinwa, and other beneficiaries prayed for blessings, safety and progress for Maten Oba Cares, team that they will never have a taste of hunger and poverty here on earth and even in the world to come.
