THE Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced a revised operational approach for the ongoing Phase II Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise in Osun State.

The Commission also approved the rotation of the INEC Voter Enrolment Device (IVED) across communities to widen access for eligible voters.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mutiu Agboke, and signed by the Commission’s Public Affairs Officer, Musa Olurode, on Wednesday in Osogbo.

INEC said the approval was granted by its National Headquarters in Abuja, allowing the redeployment of IVEDs among Registration Areas within each Local Government Area of the state.

According to the commission, “The rotation exercise is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 2, and will run until Friday, April 10, 2026, covering a total of 50 days across the affected locations.”

It added that “the final week of the Phase II CVR will be conducted solely at INEC Local Government Area offices statewide, to enable eligible residents who may have missed earlier opportunities to complete their registration.”

Explaining the rationale behind the adjustment, the commission said the decision was taken to address challenges such as long travel distances to council offices, overcrowding at registration centres, and unequal access to registration services in some localities.

INEC noted that the Continuous Voter Registration exercise remains open to Nigerians who have attained the age of 18 and are yet to be registered in the national voters’ register.

“The exercise also covers registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, correct errors on their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or replace cards that are lost or damaged,” the commission said.

Reaffirming its position, INEC Osun State stated that the initiative is part of efforts to ensure inclusiveness, transparency and fairness in the electoral process, in line with constitutional provisions.

“The commission remains committed to making voter registration accessible to all eligible citizens across the state,” the statement added.

INEC disclosed that detailed schedules for the rotation of enrolment devices across Registration Areas will be communicated through its official information channels.

The commission urged members of the public to take advantage of the exercise and cooperate with its officials throughout the registration period.
