‘Gov. Adeleke’s Ally, Not Oyebamiji’, Osun APC Reveals Architect Of Half Salary

News Update

THE Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed who it described as the true architect of the half-salary regime that once affected workers in the state, dismissing claims that its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, was responsible.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, the party accused the administration of Ademola Adeleke of spreading misinformation in a bid to smear Oyebamiji ahead of the 2026 governorship election. The APC insisted that the half-salary policy was conceived and implemented by Wale Bolorunduro, who currently serves as an economic adviser to Governor Adeleke.

The opposition party explained that Bolorunduro was the Commissioner for Finance at the time the modulated salary regime commenced under the administration of Rauf Aregbesola, stressing that historical records clearly support this position.

Clarifying Oyebamiji’s role, the APC stated that he was not part of the government when half salaries were introduced, as he was then the Managing Director of the Osun State Investment Company Limited (OSICOL).

According to the party, Oyebamiji only became Commissioner for Finance in 2017, at the tail end of the Aregbesola administration, specifically to stabilise the state’s finances.

The party credited Oyebamiji with helping to restore full salary payments to workers shortly after his appointment, describing him as a stabilising force who helped return Osun State to a path of financial recovery and improved governance.

Reacting to the allegations against its candidate, the APC described them as illogical and misleading, adding that the public remains fully aware of the true sequence of events surrounding the salary crisis.

The party maintained that no amount of character attack would change what it called verifiable facts.

Beyond the salary controversy, the APC criticised the Adeleke administration for what it termed widespread failure across key sectors, particularly youth development, alleging mismanagement, nepotism and lack of clear vision in governance.

The party expressed confidence that Osun voters are dissatisfied with the current administration and will demonstrate this at the polls during the August 8, 2026 governorship election, pledging to pursue a campaign based on issues rather than personal attacks.
