Reno Omokri Accused Of Betraying Tinubu After Failing To Secure Political Appointment

THE fallout reportedly escalated after Omokri sponsored an international Fact-Finding Mission to Nigeria, which investigated what it described as ongoing persecution of Christians in parts of northern and central Nigeria.

Former presidential aide and political commentator Reno Omokri has come under fire after being accused of turning against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu when he allegedly failed to secure a political appointment.

The allegation was made by Catholic cleric, Rev. Fr. Chinenye John Oluoma, who claimed that Omokri had previously positioned himself as an ardent defender of the Tinubu administration with the hope of being rewarded with a government role.

In a statement on his X account, Rev. Fr. Oluoma asserted that Omokri had “relentlessly” defended Tinubu while launching constant attacks on opposition figure Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections. “Relentlessly and doggedly, he battered Peter Obi, labeled him a liar, tribal jingoist, cowardly politician… In all these acidic attacks, Peter Obi maintained stoic silence. Vintage Obi; calm and calculated,” Oluoma wrote.

According to the cleric, Omokri’s public support for Tinubu was neither patriotic nor ideological but driven by personal ambition.

“He started flirting with Tinubu’s government and became its unsolicited spokesperson. Every discerning Nigerian knew he was scheming for something from Tinubu,” Oluoma claimed.

“When it looked like Tinubu was overcoming the temptation [to appoint him], the accuser went international. He invited white folks to investigate an issue he had been denying on behalf of the government,” the cleric stated.

In a dramatic twist, Oluoma claimed that Mike Arnold allegedly called out Omokri as a “hypocrite and manipulator” during a live television interview, further embarrassing him.

“He Can Do Anything for Patronage” — Oluoma Concludes

Rev. Fr. Oluoma concluded that recent events had “exposed” Omokri’s alleged opportunism.

“Now we know what we’ve always suspected… that this guy can do anything for political patronage and social media earnings,” he said.

The cleric likened Omokri’s perceived downfall to a biblical reckoning, referencing Revelation 12:10-11 in his final remark: “The accuser of Peter Obi has been thrown down.”
