AfroTrad Festival is set to hold 2025 edition on December 12th, marking its 4th edition in Osun state, the organizing committee declared.

Addressing the press conference on Sunday, in Osogbo, Osun State Capital, also disclosed that over 10,000 guests, featuring performances by world-class Afrobeat and traditional artists, comedians, poets, and cultural dancers will light up the day.

According to the organizing committee headed by Bamigboye Adeolu, stated that the vision of the project is to bridge the gap between traditional music and Afrobeat culture while promoting creative fusion across Africa’s entertainment landscape.

The committee explained that the mission of the AfroTrad project is to advance traditional creative content and infuse global experiences into African entertainment. It noted that the initiative aims to position traditional and Afrobeat sounds on the global stage.

The organizing committee further disclosed that the project seeks to enhance the display of excellence in local artistic content and present it to a wider international audience.

Highlighting previous successes, the committee said Oludare Troupe has consistently impressed audiences by blending local drums such as the gangan with Afrobeat rhythms during past editions of the festival.

The committee also stated that another key mission of the project is to project the diversity of African cultural content and art, helping local entertainers articulate their creativity to the world through a standardized platform.

It added that the AfroTrad initiative is committed to discovering and nurturing new talents in traditional art to promote Africa’s cultural heritage.

Providing a summary of the project’s background, the organizing committee noted that since its establishment in 2022, the AfroTrad Music Festival has stood out as a cultural platform celebrating the fusion of Afrobeat and traditional African music.

Driven by a deep appreciation for African heritage, the committee said the festival was created to preserve traditional music while embracing the global expansion of Afrobeat. It recalled how Nigerian artists like Babatunde Olatunji and Sikiru Adepoju have brought traditional sounds to international recognition, winning Grammy awards.

The committee emphasized the importance of sustaining a platform that educates, preserves, and celebrates both genres in a shared space.
