2026 Palm Sunday: Oyebamiji Felicitates Osun Christians

… Sympathises with Victims of Osogbo Rainstorms

The Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji popularly called AMBO, has felicitated Christians in the state on the occasion of 2026 Palm Sunday celebrations.

Similarly, Oyebamiji has also commiserated with the victims of the ugly rainstorms incident in Osun that occured yesternight in Osogbo and its environs.

This is even as he expressed heartfelt felicitations and rejoiced with Christians in the state for witnessing this year’s Holy Week.

Palm Sunday all over the world, signals the beginning of Holy Week, a sacred period of reflection, prayer, and renewal in the Christian calendar, as Christians prepare for Easter and gather in churches waving palm branches in symbolic celebration of the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.

On the rain storm, the APC gubernatorial candidate expressed deepest sympathies with those whose properties and personal belongings were lost to the heavy rainstorms that destroyed properties and infrastructures in the state.

Oyebamiji, in a statement, personally signed and made available to newsmen in Osogbo in the early hours on Sunday, eulogized the Christianity faithful for their faithfulness, resilience and high sense of tolerance, just as he sympathised with residents whose properties and personal belongings were lost to the devastating rainstorms that wreaked havock yesternight.

He acknowledged the inevitability of natural disasters and the need for responsible and responsive government to be alive to its responsibilities in addressing and combatting adverse effects of such occurrences on people’s lives and property.

He emphasised the need for government to be sensitive to critical sectors particularly environment, climate and ecological segments, promising that the APC government, when it comes alive by God’s Grace will always prioritise public safety above self-aggrandizement and jamboree.

“As I felicitate with our Christian brothers and sisters in the state on the occasion of Palm Sunday that signals the beginning of Holy Week, I want also express my heartfelt sympathies with our people in Osun whose properties and personal belongings were lost to the rainstorms that wreaked havock yesternight. This is quite unfortunate, sad and heart-aching, and I pray Almighty God uphold victims and their loved ones on the unfortunate incident.

“While natural disasters are divine, it is incumbent on any responsible and responsive government to be alive to climate change dynamics and ecological sector by putting workable mechanism in place to mitigate such whenever it occurs”, Oyebamiji said.
