National Assembly Reveals New Plenary Sitting Schedule

The National Assembly has announced that the resumption date of plenary activities has been moved from Tuesday, September 23, 2025, to Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, and made available to journalists on Tuesday, September 23, in Abuja.

According to the statement, the adjustment was made at the directive of the presiding officers of both chambers of the federal legislature.

“I am directed by the presiding officers of both Chambers of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to inform all members of the National Assembly and the general public that the resumption date of the National Assembly earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 23rd September, 2025, is postponed to Tuesday, 7th October, 2025,” the notice read in part.

The Clerk explained that while plenary sessions have been rescheduled, standing and ad-hoc committees would continue their legislative engagements within the period.

“All Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members are requested to take note of the new date and adjust their schedules accordingly. Any inconvenience caused by this rescheduling is deeply regretted,” Ogunlana stated.

The National Assembly had earlier adjourned for its annual recess on July 23, with lawmakers expected to reconvene on September 23 for the last quarter of legislative business in the year.
