Osun Osogbo Festival: Amotekun Deploys 500 Operatives to Ensure Security

News Update

In a robust effort to ensure the safety and security of residents, tourists, and dignitaries attending the annual Osun Osogbo Festival, the Osun Amotekun Corps has announced the deployment of 500 well-trained operatives across strategic locations within Osogbo, the state capital.

This proactive measure is part of the Corps’ commitment to ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free celebration during the revered cultural event, which will hold on Friday, August 8, 2025.

The deployment was confirmed by the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Chief (Dr) Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, who stated that operatives would be visible at all major festival venues, routes, and public convergence points.

According to him, the Amotekun Corps is fully prepared to provide both visible and undercover security operations throughout the festivities.

Chief Omoyele issued a stern warning to individuals or groups with criminal intentions, including pickpockets, hoodlums, and other mischief-makers, to steer clear of the festival.

He emphasized that anyone apprehended disrupting public peace or engaging in criminal activity will face the full weight of the law.

“The Osun Osogbo Festival is not only a cultural celebration but also a significant event that brings global attention to our state. We will not allow any person or group to undermine the peace and sanctity of this revered celebration.

Amotekun operatives will be on ground, fully alert and strategically positioned, to ensure that law and order are maintained throughout,” said Chief Omoyele.

He further encouraged festival attendees and local residents to enjoy the celebrations responsibly and report any suspicious activity or breach of peace to the nearest Amotekun operative or other security agencies.

He reiterated that the security of lives and property in Osun State remains a top priority, and the Corps is unwavering in its mandate to safeguard the people.

“We urge everyone to celebrate in moderation. If you notice anything unusual in your environment, please do not hesitate to alert the appropriate authorities. Our operatives are there to serve and protect. The safety of our citizens and visitors is not negotiable,” he added.

The Osun Amotekun Corps, in collaboration with other security agencies, remains committed to maintaining peace and order during the festival and beyond.
