The Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and gubernatorial aspirant in the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has stated that voters will reject Governor Ademola Adeleke in the 2026 election over alleged mismanagement of state resources.
Oyebamiji made the declaration while addressing party supporters during a visit to the Ijesa-North federal constituency on Monday.
During the visit, Oyebamiji accused the Adeleke administration of squandering unprecedented revenue inflows without tangible development to show for it.
According to him, “Osun State has been enjoying a financial rainfall of over 300 per cent of its previous allocations in the last 30 months.
“Yet there is absolutely nothing to show for the humongous resources accrued to the state under the current government.”
Commenting on recent speculations regarding the rumoured defection of Governor Adeleke to the APC, Oyebamiji assured party loyalists that there is no need for concern or panic over the reports.
“Though our leader, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, will address you personally on the defection rumours, he sent me ahead to inform you that there is no cause for alarm.
“He asked me to let you know that there is nothing to fear. Our leaders are in charge and no reason to panic. The leaders are in control. No one will reap the fruit of your labour,” he added.
While urging party members to stay united and focused ahead of the next election, Oyebamiji assured that efforts were ongoing at the federal level to resolve the issue surrounding the local council leadership in the state.
“As regards the councils’ imbroglio, our minister is doing excellently well to ensure that justice prevails no matter whose ox is gored. Our councils are in the control of our elected chairmen and councillors.
“Our elected local government officials will remain in charge till we return to power in 2026 by the grace of God,” Oyebamiji concluded.
It had been earlier reported that the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, also at an event in Monday, declared that he is not leaving the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Addressing his rumoured defection, Governor Adeleke said he is going nowhere and remains in the PDP.
