Ajibade makes WAFCON 2024 Best X1

News Update

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade and defender Ashleigh Plumptre have been named in the Group Stage Best XI at the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The duo have played a key role in the Super Falcons’ impressive start at the competition.

Plumptre, who started Nigeria’s opening two games against Tunisia and Botswana, caught the eye with her composure and defensive solidity.

Ajibade has led by example, playing every minute of Nigeria’s three group games.

The 25-year-old has provided driving runs, linking the midfield and attack.

She was named Woman of the Match in Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over the Mares of Botswana.

The Super Falcons will face the Copper Queens of Zambia in the quarter-finals of the WAFCON 2024 finals.

Friday’s encounter is slated for the Stade Larbi Zaouli, Casablanca. Kick-off is 5 p.m. Nigerian time.
