A 18-year-old housewife, identified as Saidat Jibril has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing 30-year-old husband, Salisu Idris in Kano.
Saidat who hails from Farawa Quarters, allegedly cut off Idris’s throat with a sharp knife during a violent scuffle, the spokesperson for Kano police command, SP Abdullahii Haruna Kiyawa said in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement partly reads, “The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with a culpable homicide case that occurred on 6th May, 2025, at about 12:35 am.”
“Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis, swiftly deployed a team of detectives to the scene.
“The victim was rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.”
The suspect is currently in custody at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section and will be charged to court for offence of culpable homicide.
“The Commissioner of Police cautions that the Command will not tolerate any form of violence or criminality in the State and assures the public of its commitment to conducting thorough investigations to ensure justice is served.
