Tragedy struck late Tuesday night in Aloshi, a town in Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, as gunmen invaded the residence of one Mr. Stephen Kwaghtomun, 37, killing him on the spot and abducting his 27-year-old wife.
The attack occurred around 11:30pm, sparking panic in the community and raising fresh concerns about the deteriorating security situation in the area.
According to eyewitnesses, the armed assailants stormed the house and began shooting sporadically before executing the victim, popularly known as “Action,” and forcefully taking his wife to an undisclosed location.
“The entire community is still in shock,” said one resident who requested anonymity for fear of reprisal.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday.
“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Keana division reported that the attack occurred around 11:30pm.
“Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers stormed the residence of one Stephen Kwaghtomun, killed him, and abducted his wife,” Nansel stated.
He added that the victim’s remains have been deposited at the General Hospital in Obi, while the police have launched a manhunt to track down the perpetrators and rescue the abducted woman.
