Bamise murder: Lagos BRT driver sentenced to death

THE Lagos state high court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square has sentenced Andrew Nice Ominikoron, a driver of Lagos bus rapid transit (BRT), to death by hanging for killing Bamise Ayanwola, a 22-year-old fashion designer.

Sherifat Sonaike, the trial judge, gave the verdict on Friday.

Recall, that the state government arraigned the 47-year-old defendant in March 2022 on a five-count charge of alleged rape, conspiracy, felony, sexual assault, and murder.

The prosecution alleged that Ominikoron conspired with others now at large to rape and murdered the 22-year-old fashion designer on February 26, 2022.
