JUST IN: Edo Woman Dominic caught with hidden cache of guns, ammunition

A 32-year-old woman, Janet Dominic, has been arrested by operatives of the Edo State Police Command for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

 

The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the arrest took place on April 10, 2025, during a mop-up operation by the Command’s X-Squad.

The operation was carried out at Iguezemwahu community, along the Benin-Auchi Road in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area.

Yamu noted that the operation was part of the State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika’s commitment to eradicating criminal elements from the state.

According to him, another suspect, identified only as Dominic, fled the scene upon sighting the police.

Items recovered from the arrested suspect include two single-barrel guns, three pistols, seven live cartridges, one dagger, a trigger mechanism, and one Beretta magazine. The weapons were reportedly concealed inside the seat of a motorcycle.

Yamu added that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplice.
