Operatives of the Uyo Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 14 suspected internet fraudsters at different locations within Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
They were arrested on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Ikot Akpanabia, Udoudoma, and the Nwaniba areas of Uyo in an intelligence-driven sting operation.
Three of the arrested suspects are undergraduates of the University of Uyo.
Items recovered from them include 26 smartphones, one iPad, three laptops, one wristwatch, and a black Toyota Camry car.
Speaking on the operation, EFCC’s spokesperson Dele Oyewale noted that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
