Nigeria’s economic challenges almost ending – Shettima

Nigeria’s economic challenges are nearing an end. This much was the indication given by Vice president Kashim Shettima during a one-day state visit to Nasarawa State. The Vice President who based his premise on the economic reforms and expectations from agricultural harvest, said the federal government will continue to support the sub-nationals to achieve the goal of economic recovery.

 

“We will continue to identify with you,” The Vice President said, while addressing Governor Abdullahi Sule and the audience at the Government House foreground, in Lafia.

 

He added that “The Federal government under the leadership of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will continue to render whatever support necessary to see that this nation gets out of the woods. And luckily, luckily, we have crossed the rubicon and we are on the path to sustainable growth. I believe that the worst is over. The economy is picking up and by the grace of God, we are going to record bumper harvest in the upcoming agricultural season.”

 

 

Senator Shettima also praised the peace efforts of Governor Sule in the State which have led to the gains made in governance and agricultural development.

“There can never be development without peace and there can never be peace without development. The people of Nasarawa State can never appreciate this poor man until he is no longer on the seat. Nasarawa is a kaleidoscope of colours. Nasarawa represents the mosaic that Nigeria is – different ethnic groups, different religions but live in peace harmoniously because of the quality of leadership that he has provided. We continue thanking God for granting us the peace and harmony in Nasarawa State, for the monumental accomplishment in Nasarawa State. Nasarawa is the agriculture powerhouse of the nation. Beyond being the home of solid minerals. Nasarawa is in a position to feed the whole of the nation,” the VP noted.

 

Earlier Governor Sule promised maintain the tempo of agricultural development. He said the frontiers of farming have extended to the local councils to enable them also partake in the food security initiatives of the federal Government.

“Mr. Vice President, we believe that by next time you are coming here, you are not only going to see the rice belonging to the state government, you are also going to see the rice belonging to the local government areas,” he pledged.

 

As part of his activities during the visit, VP Shettima laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Nasarawa One-stop Investment centre, Multidoor Court, a World bank sponsored State government initiative to expand her investment drive.

 

He also presented certificates to graduands of the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational Training centre, Lafia.

 

Senator Shettima equally presented various items to give succour to victims of flood in the State. the Vice President presented tractors, paddy rice and other agricultural input to the officials of the 13 local government area.
