Oba Adegunle Aroloye: A Lyrical Tribute – Idanre Set For 2024 Ketewa Festival

THE 2024 edition of Ketewa Festival will hold on Saturday December 28, with a series of exhilarating cultural displays and celebrations of heroic contributions to society.

Ketewa Festival is basically about Idanre land, people, arts and culture. It’s an annual gathering of talents and tributes, a veritable platform of cultural revival that has, in the last five years, become a refreshing part of the highly fascinating town.

The theme for Ketewa Festival 2024 is “OBA ADEGUNLE AROLOYE: A LYRICAL TRIBUTE”

In a detailed statement, the planning committee says Ketewa Festival 2024, which will be held at the Sports Ground of Methodist High School, Idanre, will feature stunning performances by an array of richly talented traditional musicians, all of whom will be paying lyrical tributes to the late monarch.

It promises to be a night of rhymes and rhythms, mimes and pantomimes, choreography and historiography.

There will be competitive chants and poetic invocations between Aghoro Odo and Aghoro Oke.

The statement also lists some outstanding individuals who will receive laurels at the cultural night.

They include the profoundly revered Senior High Chief, Victor Ojo Alalabiaye, the Osolo of Idanre land. Alalabiaye will be celebrated for his uncommon commitment to cultural renaissance, revival of moribund ethos and sustained restoration of Idanre’s traditional values, long eroded by civilization.

Also slated for honour is the Iyaloja of Alade Idanre, High Chief Iwalola Oladehin. Popularly known as Funwontan, Chief (Mrs) Oladehin is an icon of entrepreneurship and market leadership. She will be celebrated for promoting peace and harmony among traders in Alade Kingdom.

Still in the roll call of honour is the Chairman of NURTW, Adelanke Adegunsoye aka Cobble. A good manager of men, Adegunsoye has ensured a regime of peace and orderliness across major parks in Idanre.

To be equally honoured at this special cultural event is the Proprietor of Pragmatic Group of School, Idanre, Omoloye Ilesanmi for his investments and promotion of quality education in Idanre. Dynamic and zealous, Ilesanmi remains a pride to the community.

Meanwhile forms are currently being circulated for participation in the Ketewa Festival games like Ayo olopon, Arin and table tennis.
